I originally carved Running Man in wax before casting into solid silver. I wanted to create a figure that showed the extraordinary explosion of energy and muscle power that we watch in a race. He is highly polished and set upon a polished cube of Blue Lias stone. Blue Lias is a dark blue/grey colour and has visible inclusions of fossils and other materials. This piece we quarried locally in Somerset and chosen for the fine quartz line on one side. Runner has a pin on his toe which slots into a hole in the plinth, meaning he can be removed for a buff with a silver cloth when necessary. Runner is 50mm tall and the plinth 95mm, overall 145mm. Theres is only one.
